Goonellabah

The Goonellabah property, our house, is two storeys and completely wheelchair accessible. When it’s raining there is an undercover garage to use to stay dry during transfers.

From the garage it is a short distance to Lumeah — that’s what we call the accommodation section. It means ‘here I rest’ which is what we want for all our guests.

Lumeah has a huge, fully accessible bathroom with shower and vanity sink, toilet, full laundry, and access directly to the yard.

Lumeah has two queen size bedrooms and a cute lounging area with a huge TV and DVD set up. In Lumeah’s fully equipped kitchen, you can practice your cooking skills by crafting delicious and nutritious home-cooked meals. Maybe even grab some fresh produce from the accessible veggie garden.

The yard has been designed with wheelchair and mobility accessibility in mind. There is ample space to run and play, climb trees or potter in the garden at the accessible garden beds.

For those that would prefer to stay upstairs is a queen-size guest bedroom. The first floor is where our family spends social time together, and we love it when people choose to hang out upstairs! The internal elevator takes people and their wheels to the first floor, ambulatory guests can go up the internal stairs.

The kitchen and dining area is the heart of our home and the space is huge. Dominated by big windows and sliding glass doors to show off our fabulous view!

Goonellabah, our home base, is an eastern suburb of Lismore. The town of Lismore is a regional capital, with a population of nearly 30,000 and all the activities and amenities to go with it.

Favourite local activities include bush walks, shopping in the eclectic town centre, country drives to surrounding natural beauty, and coffee in one of the many cafes and coffee shops dotting the area.
